Vision Ethiopia
Mission Statement

We engage Ethiopian intellectuals and professionals by creating an independent forum for developing policy alternatives that lead to a better Ethiopia.

Engage
Vision Ethiopia, in collaboration with ESAT, engages Ethiopian intellectuals and professionals so that they contribute towards finding better means and ways of facilitating the emergence of a democratic national government of Ethiopia that aims to building a peaceful, stable, united, democratic, and prosperous country for all its citizens. The mission arose out of concern about the lack of noticeable engagement of this population group in the affairs of their country.

Independent
Though politically engaged to defend the unity of Ethiopia and promote the well-being of all its peoples, our organization is not affiliated with any political party and is registered in the United States as a non-profit organization. Vision Ethiopia is administered by a Board and an Executive Committee. The procedure for appointment and removal of Board members and the Executive shall be defined in the bylaws.

Ethiopians
In principle admission is open to all individuals who trace their origin to Ethiopia. Associate membership might be granted, on a case by case basis, to individuals who agree with the mission of Vision Ethiopia. Members and associates must meet the requisite knowledge, integrity, and experience in developing and analyzing policy, have sound track record of advancing freedom and justice for all Ethiopians, or have the potential to contribute towards the realization of mission of the organization. The procedure for admission and rights and duties of members is defined in the bylaws.

Alternative
Given that the ethnocratic regime of the TPLF/EPRDF that captured state power through violence has not only stifled accountability and democracy but also endangered the peace, security, liberty, and unity of the people, and stability and integrity of the country, Vision Ethiopia facilitates for the design, deliberation, development, and exchange of alternative policies by its members for consultation and implementation in the context of Ethiopia. Vision Ethiopia, as a cardinal principle, upholds the rule of law, accountability, democratic values that ensure sustainable peace, security, liberty, and unity of the Ethiopian people and the stability and integrity of the country.

Better
Ethiopians deserve and can achieve better than their current social, political and economic situation. Vision Ethiopia works with all and explores all alternatives to realize the birth of a new Ethiopia in which all of its citizens live in freedom, democracy, peace, the rule of law, unity within diversity, good and accountable governance, and prosperity. To achieve these objectives, members of Vision Ethiopia pledge to work together to monitor, analyze, and deliberate on policies that affect the welfare and security of Ethiopia, engage in public intellectual work, and undertake all measures to advance the just causes of peace, democracy, and development in Ethiopia.
